‘World’s first nano-material based water filter’
IIT-Madras is just about to release a water purifier using nanotechnology. “Technology used in the product is the very first and is home-grown. No nanoparticle based water filter exists in the world as of now,” says Dr T. Pradeep, Professor in the Depart ment of Chemistry and Sophisticated Analytical Instrument Facility, Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM).

I wonder what happened to this technology as I haven’t heard anything and this was posted over a year ago. If I find out anything I’ll post back.
All the best,
Chris
Some of the old technology is pretty effective. I am talking about the gravity type filtration. I am certainly interested in new ways to get good water to the public.
We believe that the older, tried-and-true filtration media and materials will continue to hold dominance in the market until a companies in the water filter industry decide to take the plunge/risk and do some real-world trials with some of the newer materials such as the nano materials mentioned here and/or the cutting edge fluoropolymers created using Electrospinning (http://www.zeusinc.com/company/news.aspx?article_id=12) by Zeus, Inc.
