Thanks for linking to the NSF article about our synthetic brain research. This work will raise many ethical issues. Besides the invasive nature of nanoparticles (penetrating cell walls with ease), there are issues of a different sort. Can we wire in thoughts with a prosthesis for a part of the brain? Can we override the biological brain? I hope this will spur some debate and dialog. You might be interested in the nanoethics work done by Patrick Lin at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
