Handheld water filter offering hope to thirsty world

Getting access to clean drinking water is one of the toughest challenges for millions of people in the developing world, but now a little plastic device that costs $3 to manufacture is offering new hope. The new invention, called the Lifestraw, is a handheld water purifier that filters out the vast majority of parasites and bacteria and could go far in allowing people to drink water without getting seriously sick.
